Dan Swift was converted from a ro-ro ship into an advanced Accommodation and Support Vessel.

This is the second time in three years that J. Lauritzen has competed as a finalist at the Lloyd’s List awards ceremony, after winning ‘Ship of the Year’ for the gas carrier Isabella Kosan in 2008.

The “Ship of the Year” award acknowledges outstanding technological endeavours in shipbuilding and vessel ownership, and considering the many factors which go into a successful ship design the judges took into account such vital elements as innovation, operational efficiency, safety and environmental protection.

Dan Swift is the first dedicated mono hull accommodation vessel in the high-end offshore accommodation segment. The vessel utilizes a range of well-known technologies combined to provide a dedicated solution for nearly all service functions to fixed and floating installations. The sophisticated DP2 dynamic positioning systems, powerful thrusters and excellent gangway solution has been combined with the superior seagoing abilities and flexible redeployment of a ship-based solution.

The concept behind the Dan Swift extends the borders for offshore support vessels with its unique combination of features making the vessel a sailing hotel, shipyard, and airport – all at the same time.

“J. Lauritzen is very proud to be nominated for this prestigious award for the second time in three years and it illustrates our efforts to provide cutting edge ship design and technology. The nomination is also a welcome recognition of our dedication to serve our customers and business partners by providing leading solutions and services within the highly demanding offshore sector” says Anders Mortensen, president of Lauritzen Offshore Services A/S.
